Atlantic Records interview with Jeff Stinco!

(Från Atlantic Records hemsida)

"Simple Plan’s lead guitarist Jeff Stinco spoke with Atlantic Records.com about the band’s experience playing on the Warped Tour for the first time. Their headlining slot came as a shock to Jeff, who hadn't even been allowed to attend as a child! Jeff told us all about his bonding with the other bands on the tour, and which up-and-coming artists he’s keeping an eye on (including former Simple Plan opening act Paramore)! Simple Plan is currently preparing an international tour in support of their latest album Get Your Heart On!"

"Dear SP fans,

I am extremely sad to announce that we have to cancel our performance at Summersonic festival as well as the next 2 weeks of upcoming shows due to a severe health issue with my voice. First off, I sincerely apologize and hope you can forgive us. Canceling shows is something we truly hate to do and that we don't take lightly. You (our fans) mean the world to us and the last thing we want to do is let you down.

In order to help you understand exactly what's going on, here is my story:

We played our show in South Korea on august 7th at the Pentaport Festival and the crowd was amazing. Unfortunately during the concert I felt that something was wrong with my voice. I was able to sing but barely. I knew I was damaging my vocal cords because it was unusually difficult for me to hit the notes and to control my pitch. I was struggling to sing parts that were normally really easy and by the end of the show, I knew it was bad.

The first doctor I saw in Korea didn't speak much English but he did what is called a fiber optic laryngoscopic exam, assessed the damage and told me as best he could that my vocal cords were swollen and not doing so well (probably due to the very intense schedule of shows we had in June and July). He prescribed me some meds and told me to see another doctor in a few days. The whole band agreed that it was best to cancel the 2 shows in Beijing and Shanghai and rest my voice in hopes to get better quickly.

After 5 days of no speaking or making any sound whatsoever, I went to another doctor in Beijing. The hospital was amazing and the doctor was great. She did another fiber optic laryngoscopic exam and compared it to the previous one done in Korea. The good news was that it already looked better and that with the proper vocal rest I would be good as new and back to normal in about 2 weeks. The bad news was that we have shows already booked for the next 2 weeks, not to mention the next year!!! The doctor also said that if I don't stop singing and go on vocal rest, I risk the chance of permanently damaging my vocal cords which would require surgery to repair.

So once again we are left with the very difficult decision of canceling shows for the greater good of the band.

We decided to take the Doctor's advice to go home and be on complete vocal rest for 2 weeks with medicinal treatments to accelerate the healing. It really sucks to have to cancel these shows and trust me, I'd much rather be out there having fun and playing concerts than remaining completely quiet for 2 weeks.

So that's the story. No need to worry, I will be fine and will completely recover without the need of any intervention other than vocal rest. I apologize to all the fans out there who were counting on us and who were excited to meet us. We will make it up to you I promise. Thanks for your understanding and compassion. We're looking forward to hitting the road again very soon and kickin' some ass all around the world for the next year and more!

Thanks for your support and don't forget to "Get your heart on!". ; )

Pierre
Simple Plan"

What To Do - And What *Not* To Do - When Approaching Your Idols

JEFF STINCO of SIMPLE PLAN
What are some questions that a fan should not ask you?
You know it’s very strange. When you decide to be in a band, you kind of have to let go of your privacy. There’s a certain limit that obviously you want to keep. I’ve got kids, for instance. I don’t really want to talk about my kids. That’s really got nothing to do with what I do, but besides from that, there’s really no limit.

What question do you like to hear from fans?
I like fans that talk about the music. A lot of times there is a strong emphasis on the artwork, the looks of the band. It’s always great to hear fans ask us about the process and the music, and our career in general. Those are always great questions to ask, and it makes this whole thing have a little sense.

Are there any questions you wish you heard more?
The shittiest question I hear all the time is, “What’s the craziest question you’ve ever heard?” Those questions are not very creative. I’d love to hear more creative questions about lyrics [and] the band in general.

What’s the worst fan experience you’ve had?
I can tell you of one. I think nowadays fans feel that they have—they should have—some sort of closeness with their favorite band. Recently, I had a fan hack into [some] of my [online] accounts. It was just pretty shitty to get tons of letters [and] emails and that person got angry at me for not answering at a certain point.

I’ve heard a lot of these bad stalker stories.
It was stalker-ish. That person kept their distance still. I never really met that person. It just felt very intrusive.

Is there anytime a fan should “back off” from you?
I’m pretty much always approachable. When you’re having dinner with people, that’s the worst scenario. You’re having dinner, sitting down and you’re having a good chat and someone just walks in, kind of barges in. That sucks. Besides from that, I’m pretty open. I think that most of our fans are very respectful, and they’ll wait for us to be done or take a break and they’ll come down and say hi. Honestly, we’ve been doing this for ten years now and we’ve had really, really great experiences with our fans.

Any last piece of advice for fans?
In general, whether you’re in a band or you’re a fan, just be nice. It’s very simple. There [are] a lot of egos in this business and I don’t know what for. Nobody’s saving lives here. I know some doctors who do save lives who are very humble. I think it’s a question of being a good human being and just doing your best.

Live video chat nr.5!

04.07 - Pierres hund Delilah! (His "bitch", haha!)
04.33 - Blir de avundsjuka på varandra? (04.40 - Haha, älskar Pierre's svar!)
07.08 - "Have you ever broken your pants on stage?", haha!
07.30 - Vem sjunger rappdelen live? (07.42 - Piere visslar hur gitarrsolot går, hehe!)
08.26 - Pierre snackar spanska, haha!
09.36 - "Any other passions?"
11.35 - David har gett bort många basar!
12.24 - Best childhood memory!
14.54 - Pierre imiterar Chewbacca, hahaha!
15.16 - "Do you have a secret obsession?"
16.55 - David gives a girl a kiss through the camera, haha!
17.36 - Vem är kortast i bandet?
18.17 - Lång kram, haha, cute!
18.34 - "If you could be anywhere else but here, where would you be?"
18.45 - "Who's behind the camera?" - Amanderz!
21.49 - Bästa dansaren i bandet?
22.43 - Jeff spelar gitarr i slutet, mycket fint!

Kiss 95.5 Webchat!

Simple Plan var och besökte Conneticut's KC101 och Kiss 95.7 och hade en live chat och ett uppträdande, check it out! :

04.42 - 'Stop dreaming', start playing!
06.20 - 'Rituals on the bus', men de lyckas alltid kalla det fel - "Fist me!", haha!
07.42 'Get your heart on!'
08.35 - 'This song saved my life'! Amazing song, amazing story behind it, I love it!

SP at MTV's Buzzworthy!

Atlantic Records interview with David Desrosiers!

"In part two of our exclusive interview with Simple Plan, we dig deep with bassist David to talk about his musical idols Greenday, and how they shaped his musical career, as well as the massive influence of Michael Jackson. David also reveals which bands are currently in heavy rotation on his headphones (mostly female singers!) and what the rest of 2011 holds for his non-stop band."

(02.30 - "Anything that's from Sweden", woho!)

Track by Track: Gone Too Soon
